What do you treasure the most in your life? However you answer that question will reveal where your heart is at and what it is that you serve. This Sunday we continue our series, Heaven’s King Has Come to Reign, with our message, “Seek Not the World’s Goods, But the King’s Reign” based on Matthew 6:7-13, 19-34.
The altar flowers are in celebration of Mike Williams' Birthday!
Sponsorships for 2015 Altar Flowers are now available to reserve at the Information Center.
We’ve raised $1715 toward the Kids Against Hunger event (including the $900 we received in coins!!)! Thrivent has also donated $500 to make our total $2115! Our goal is $4200. If you would like to still make a contribution, please mark your donation “KAH” and place it in our offering baskets by Sunday, February 7th.
Everyone is welcome to join our 2.52 & Fray kids for this family fun mission event on Wednesday, February 11th at 6pm. Ash Wednesday service begins at 7pm in the Worship Center. If you want to learn more about Lakeshore Fellowship and its values, are interested in membership here at Lakeshore Fellowship, or recently transferred here from another LCMS church, we welcome and encourage you to sign up! Pastor Chris will be hosting these classes on Wednesdays, February 25th – March 25th from 7-8:30pm. Please RSVP by calling the office (616-846-8566) or check your Connection Card this coming Sunday to say you’ll be there! Hope you have the chance to see the article that is scheduled to appear in the Tribune on Saturday about the Cross on Dewey Hill from Lutheran Hour Ministries devotions. This is a wonderful explanation about the outcome - that as Christians, we need not be concerned about the cross being replaced!! We can all certainly view the "anchor" differently from now on. They were able to remove the Cross from the Heart of Grand Haven, but they can’t remove Christ from our Hearts!
We will host a Captive Free weekend event here March 13-15! More details coming soon, however we need to secure host homes for 3 girls. If you have a room or two available in your home, starting Friday, March 13th in the evening through Sunday, March 15th in the morning, please contact Jayne in the office at 616-846-8556. (We have already placed the 2 guys!)
One of our community groups (Empty Nesters) would like to challenge all other community groups with either serving one time at the Muskegon Supper House and/or financially support one dinner ($150). For those who don’t know, Lakeshore Fellowship sends a group of 10 volunteers once per month (on the second Monday of the month at 4pm) to serve food. We also pay for that meal which is $150. Anyone or group that would like to join in on this challenge, please make your contribution, noting that it is to go toward “Supper House” (also let us know what group you belong to). The challenge is ongoing until February 22nd! Our goal is to raise enough funds to support March – December 2015 ($1500).
CEF has been blessed with another year of healthy growth and sent Lakeshore a rebate check of $1879 (calculated as a 1/4 % interest rebate on the outstanding balance of $ 468,787 mortgage.) If you would like to invest in the Church Extension Fund, contact our CEF representative Milt Boeger or Jayne Platz in the church office. Information about CEF is also available in the Atrium’s Track Rack.
At the end of worship you are invited to come to the Prayer Room (the door in the Worship Center next to the Kitchen) and receive prayer for whatever need you may be facing.
We hope you enjoy the newer booklet style envelopes. This new style allows for easier storage (like in a glove box or file drawer), you can keep track of contributions (checkbook style), and all written contribution information will be kept confidential – once the flap has been secured. Finally, these new envelopes are mailable (in case you miss a Sunday). Please pick up your family’s envelopes in the Atrium this Sunday.Your family contribution statements for 2014 giving have been sent out via email. Anyone without an email, will have received a paper copy in the U.S.P.S. mail. Please contact the office if you have not yet received your statement (616-846-8556). Thank you!
Pastor Chris and Tracy Boehnke and Pastor Dieter and Ruth Haupt will be hosting a 13-day trip to Germany from September 25 to October 7, 2015.
